Dickie Dee's Reunion 2002

The time: April 12, 2002.
The occasion: An informal reunion of St. Rose alumni.
The place: Dickie Dee's.

Why Dickie Dee's?  Listen, no one who's had a delicious Italian Hot Dog or Sausage Sandwich there would ask that question, so let's move on.  On a warm Friday afternoon a motley crew descended on the little storefront at Bloomfield Avenue and No. Sixth Street in Newark.  Thanks to Linda DeRosa, whose pictures came out better than mine, the event now belongs to the ages.

Those in attendance were: Standing, left to right: Susan Schick Kemka, John F. Crowley, Marlene Raab Barrett, Louie Abruzzese, Debbie Miano. Seated: Grace Marano-Primavera, Rosario Marano, Bob Davis Jr., Linda DeRosa Kaufer, Debbie Dinverno.  Rosario bought lunch for all -- thanks, Rosario -- and to make lunch complete, Royal Crown Cola was available on tap!  That's Royal Crown Cola -- "Easy on the syrup, easy on the gas!" We gabbed and caught up for an hour or and seemed to agree that we all looked pretty good.  Some nice gent interrupted his delicious lunch to take pictures of us with each of our six or seven cameras.  That sort of sacrifice typifies the spirit of the native Newarker!

I should have taken this picture before slathering ketchup on it, the better to show the golden brown potatoes on this Hot Dog/Sausage Combo.  Was it delicious?  What do you think?
